Dr. Richard Nayak-Luke
Lecturer in Chemical Engineering, University College London
Interests:
Process & systems engineering focused on integration of renewable electrical energy into chemical production processes and semi-islanded networks.
Biography:
Richard is Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at University College London. He was previously a Lecturer of Chemical and Systems Engineering at the University of Oxford, and a Tutor in Engineering Science at New College.
His research interests are beyond-battery electrical energy storage and the integration of renewable electrical energy into chemical production processes and semi-islanded networks.
In the last 5 years he has focussed on modelling Green ammonia production during which time he has collaborated with Siemens and IIT Delhi, organised workshops in India, and consulted for the International Energy Agency (IEA). In between studies for an MEng and DPhil (both at the University of Oxford) he worked for Roland Berger.
As member of the OXGATE Group, he co-authored the book (with Agustin Valera-Medina and Rene Banares-Alcantara) Techno-Economic Challenges of Green Ammonia as an Energy Vector.
Other publications include:
‘Techno-economic viability of islanded green ammonia as a carbon-free energy vector and as a substitute for conventional production’; and
‘Ammonia to power: Forecasting the levelized cost of electricity from green ammonia in large-scale power plants’.
