Professor Frank Kirkland

Professor of Technology Innovation for Aircraft Propulsion, Queen’s University Belfast

Aircraft propulsion systems, alternative fuels, alternative energy systems.

Biography:

Frank is a part time Professor at the University of Nottingham and Queen's University Belfast. Before these positions he worked at Rolls-Royce for 38 years in various design & technology roles such as Chief Design Engineer - Trent 500 & 700. His last roles were Chief Designer - Civil Aerospace; and Chair of the Engineering Fellowship.

He is now at Nottingham University researching future propulsion systems, and at Queen's Belfast researching Aircraft Structures and Design Methods. In 2016 he received the Royal Aeronautical Society Gold Medal for contributions to Aerospace.
