James Thatcher

James is currently Supply Chain and Strategy Manager at Ryze Hydrogen, which supplies clean hydrogen and hydrogen infrastructure for transport, industry and other applications, supporting customers’ energy transition journey.

Following his Master’s degree in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, with a specialism in Chemical Engineering, James’s final year research project, supervised by Professor René Bañares-Alcántara, was on ammonia powered shipping. This led to his employment as a research assistant for the Oxford Green Ammonia Technology (OXGATE) group.

James then moved to Element Energy, joining their Hydrogen Team with a focus on heavy duty road transport, hydrogen distribution, energy import / export, ammonia as a fuel, and electrolysis. When EE was acquired by ERM, he remained as a Senior Consultant, until his recruitment by Ryze Hydrogen.
